Another Road Closure

Coming in to work this morning I note the road up to Areley Common is closed; no idea why. I could check the weekly report except that expired on the 28th December and neither the Quarterly nor Road Closures report lists it, so...?

[Update 7/1: The Road Closed sign has gained two yellow siblings. Do they give us more information about the closure? No don't be silly they just tell us that the Pub and Nursery are open for business as usual]

It is actually closed from Areley Common to Holt Heath for two weeks. The 294/295 bus from Stourport to Worcester is currently going via Great Witley, a 9 mile detour. As of yesterday the roadworks are from Church Lane, Shrawley to The Lenchford but as the work progresses they will work their way towards Stourport.

An yet the sign is sitting just past the turn to Hermitage Way, nice degree of information there.

Ah thanks for that Don, I hope we don't get any accidents in Mitton Street otherwise it'll be a trek through Kidderminster for me down the 449

Update - Apologies for being unable to give an update on this roadworks. (I now live 6k from my telephone exchange and my broadband connection is down to 125kbps and occasionally disappears altogether - I had no connection from Monday tea time to this afternoon, Saturday! No chance of an 8Mb connection!)

The roadworks are to install kerbstones between Shrawley Village Hall/Walnut Tree Nursery and The Lenchford. Progress has been very slow and my guess is that when that section has been completed there will be no time to do any other work in this current road closure.

Good lord no apologies necessary more information here than from the council. I noticed On Sunday that the Road Closed sign up to Areley Common had been turned and moved off the road and the the two yellow signs had vanished only to be back in place this morning.

The WCC weekly roadworks report has now been updated for this week (amazing) and now features "From Shrawley School for 700 metres south east" on behalf of Highways from 4/1 until 22/1
