High Street works?

Having re-discovered the new location for the weekly roadworks report, I could now check on exactly what that hole at the connection between High Street and Vale Road is for.

Or maybe not as it's not listed. The hole appeared early this week, blocks off the left-hand lane of the one-way system to direct pedestrians around it, and seems to have no signs indicating what it's for.

Or for that matter does it seem to possess workers. Driving back and forth at least three times a day I have espied not one single worker, nor one piece of equipment.

It's simply a hole with cones and barricades.

On a plus side I note from the local Labour blog that High Street will be repaired soon.

For those catching up the 'ether' has it that when the original work was performed, it was done so on the understanding that High Street would be pedestrianised and surfaces were placed in that regard. Quite obviously the levels of vehicular traffic ruined it and patching occurred. Hopefully this time around someone will mention that it'll be vehicles using it and plan accordingly.
