Counting cars
Normally when I drive past Vale Road car-park of a morning it's reasonably full maybe three-quarters of the 70-odd spaces. On Friday the day the charges came into effect I counted 12. On Monday I counted 5; today 0, none, nada, zip.
So the council have gone to having no revenue generated by Vale Road to having no revenue generated by Vale Road. The big difference being where is everyone parking? I'm betting Severn Road at least is kind of full.

That made me laugh. That's progress for you!
Seriously though the number of cars NOT there is a count of the revenue Stourport is LOSING. Consider the comments from the Worcester News article on the parking can-of-worms. You can see there that people outside the district will now no longer bother coming to the district!
I counted 15 this afternoon; assuming the maximum rate that's a whopping £61.50; whoo-hoo that'll offset everyone who isn't coming into town any more.
As for revenue lost, that's uncountable. The council get the same money in rates regardless of the business making money or even existing as liability starts for the owner after 3 months of the property being empty.
If Stourport ends up a ghost-town they'll just raise the domestic rates to compensate for the loss.
