Expel Labour from schools

Story from The Guardian via Liberal Conspiracy.

In a shocking statement the NASUWT, a union of teachers unable to form a pronounceable acronym, called for the banning of Labour members from the teaching profession. "Would you be comfortable knowing your child was being taught by a Labourist?", asked a spokesperson. "Pushing their views on a Euro-state, the removal of our currency, the dilution of power, and private finance initiatives. Seriously would you want these types of people taking a part in your child's education. Who knows the damage they might cause."

How about “Would you want your children being taught by a raving anti-Labour nutter?”

I'd be much more in favour of banning teachers who think Intelligent Design is an actual “scientific” theory — but I imagine that one's going to be about as popular as a snail at a gardening convention…

But that's the problem. In this case the argument is that the beliefs held by the BNP could prevent them from being effective teachers - the emphasis should be on "could" there.

But as per my original comment on the LC link and this piece that could apply to pretty much anyone dependant on your own values.

Now if it turned out that they were letting their beliefs get in the way of teaching then sure sack them as you would anyone else, but don't assume they can't keep public and private concerns separated and thus prevent them from employment with no basis in fact.
