There comes a time in every man's life when he has to give in, wear a flat cap, shout at kids to 'Get off my lawn', and start writing letters to newspapers.
Damn straight he should resign take a look at the photo of him here. Rule 59 of the Highway Code states that he should be wearing a cycle helmet and light coloured or fluorescent clothing. Sure it's not a law, but what sort of example is he setting to the country?
A damn good one. Having authority figures and people in promotional photos wearing helmets and HV gear makes cycling look dangerous and unusual, rather than the everyday and relatively safe mode of transport it really is. My (foam) hat is off to anyone who says no to the scaremongers.

Which is a fair point if he himself had made a point of not wearing such; however I still consider this a case of "do as I say, don't do as I do"
