Police on the bridge
I saw one officer this morning on the Areley side standing on the steps who had it cordoned off with blue mesh, and now I've just been told that many more have arrived. Nothing in the Shuttle or the Express and Star yet

At 11.45am the police helicopter arrived and as I write at 12.05 it is patrolling up and down from the bridge up to at least Mitton Street may be as far as Gilgal.
The Shuttle has been slow to pick up news. I was looking for any news from the Shuttle on Gary Key, the property developer from Stourport. He unfortunately died in a plane crash.

The helicopter remained until about 12.25pm. My wife was out at the shops in the High Street and the rumour at the time was that there was a bank raid in Wales yesterday and a person was seen throwing a gun into the River Severn and that the police divers were out on the river. Later my postman said she felt as if the police helicopter was following her on her round for about 40 minutes.
BBC reports that 40 river police were involved in a search directed from a base behind the Stourport Leisure Centre. It continued that a statement will be made later today but revealed that the search was in connection with a murder enquiry.
Thanks Don, Shuttle confirms the murder enquiry. I've heard some more rumours on that line, but I think it both prudent and respectful to await the official statement rather then repeat them here.
Wow rumours were right for once and it is to do with the drowning of Reginald Southall. "We would also appeal for anyone who was at or near either side of the River Severn at Stourport on December 4 between approximately 6.45pm and 8pm in order to establish if they saw anyone around there at the time." Bloody hell I can barely remember where I was last week let alone four months ago and is anyone going to remember seeing someone who hasn't already come forward during the original hunt?
