Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Den Defence
One of the new additions to the Assassin's Creed series for Revelations is the Den Defence mini game. It's a simple tower defence game wherein enemies attack in waves down a narrow channel and you set up obstacles to keep them back. To put it bluntly - it's not very good, but it's not something that needs to be constantly done. However if you manage to win 3 such games that ticks off one of the items for the Assassin's Guild challenges which leads to a nice upgrade. So what's the problem?
The problem is that if you're playing the game 'properly' you never have to play Den Defence beyond the introduction. The mini-game initiates when the enemy becomes too aware of your presence; their awareness can be lowered by various easy means so there's little excuse for allowing it to escalate. If by some miscalculation it does jump to the point they attack if you've been training up your little assassin band you can appoint one of them as the Den leader and they will play the mini-game for you.
So the only way to gain this upgrade is to screw things up, which rankles.

exactly man....couldn't have said it better my self. it seems that u and me are they only ones playing this game 'properly'...im currently trying to get full TOTAL sync. so i have to complete all the side missions, more specifically the assassin side missions (u know? the one where u get altiars sword), except im stuck. the only thing i have left to do is 'successfully complete a den defense 0/3' and i have beaten the game and assigned all my assassins to separate dens (not all of them are lvl 15)....is there any possible way i can still complete a den defense? PLZZ reply.
Apparently there are two methods as I managed to get a 3/3 with only one success and one failure. As this just pinged up while I was in a totally non-related mission I can relate the situation -
I had Lvl 10 Assassin's assigned to various cities and successfully repelled Templar attacks on them to retain control.
The second method is to re-run the tutorial mini-game another 2 times apparently each success counts separately, but I hold that as being a bit naff.
Send your den master assassins on a hard mission they don't have a good chance of completing so die.
In other words - kill off your den master thus leaving it undefended if it comes under attack.
Again to my mind this runs counter to how the game should be played.
I think you just said &ldquo:AS:R” is poorly designed and has too many redundant things stuffed into it.
As you may know, Yahtzee Croshaw said the exact same thing, but in a more humours manner. ;-)
Nice Article.
